Facilities
The community facilities at Wybalena Grove are available for general recreation purposes and also for special social functions. They are on Owners Corporation property for the use of residents and their invited guests. Residents interested in organising special functions should notify the Executive Committee to ensure that no other functions have been organised for that day.
Barbecue area
The barbecue area has seating for about 20 people. There is a conventional barbecue and a wood-fired oven. A wood-fired oven was added to the barbecue area in late 2012. The oven can be used not only for pizza but also roasting and baking. There are detailed instructions for its use. These instructions are also provided as laminated sheets at the barbecue area. There is a notebook for making bookings beneath the oven. Please read the instructions for use of the oven carefully. Fuel must not included any kind of milled or treated timbers.
Playgrounds
There are two playgrounds. One is in the Community Area (Zone K), while the other is in the Western Boundary (Zone N), west of Cluster E (Zone E). Each playground includes a slide, swings, and a climbing facility. Please supervise children.
Tennis court
The tennis court is adjacent to the barbecue area and is available for use by residents and their invited guests. Please do not use the court when wet. Following play the surface should be bagged and, water restrictions permitting, watered. The gate must be locked after use.
Green waste recycling
The Owners Corporation provides a green waste recycling area to the north of the community garden and tennis court. This area can be used to deposit acceptable garden refuse from the common ground and owner’s unit area. Prunings, branches up to 200mm diameter, weeds and leaf matter from individual unit gardens and from the common grounds can be left at the recycling area.
Please fill your own FOGO bin first. If your FOGO bin is full, ask if you can use a neighbour’s. Additional FOGO bins may be left by the green waste area. Please fill those first.
This area is only for green waste. Please do not deposit in the recycling area:
Bamboo
Pampas grass
Building or other timber
Metals, plastics, concrete, etc
For ACT Government recycling and waste disposal please see Recycling and waste collection.
Village green
The village green, or Manning’s Green, is available to residents and their invited guests. Manning’s Green was named after Alan Manning, one of our early residents and a driver of the development of the bush landscape we all now enjoy. Alan died in early 1981, and in acknowledgement of his considerable contribution, the village green was named after him at a community function.
To maintain an even playing surface activities that would damage the surface, such as golf or horse riding are not permitted. Cars must not be driven or parked on the village green.
